This topic reminds me of pallas’s cat. The first time I knew this cute species was from a TikTok video and I was immediately intrigued by it’s seemingly expressive face and snaggly teeth. Apart from that, from that video I noticed that their pupils are different, unlike other species of small cats, they don’t have vertical slits, as well as round ones just like human’s. That’s so amazing. Then I searched loads of information about it, and that’s how I got to know them more.
They may look like cute and lazy house cats but it turns out that they’ve actually made home to one of the most difficult places to live in the world, the Himalayas. Their ears are short and round, this comes in handy when you spend most of your day hiding from both predators and prey, as pointy ears would be all too conspicuous, living in the steppes their coats are also designed to blend in. In the winter their fur is more gray and in the summer it becomes more of an orange brown. So its really hard to spot them from a remote area. I guess the rules of nature are always precise and reasonable. To own one would be amazing and it's now on my bucket list. But I doubt it's a possibility.

1、什么是抽象名词
首先，我们先看一下什么是抽象名词。抽象名词表示性质、行为、状态或情感等抽象概念的名称。
如：phenomenon, anger, freedom, life, knowledge, fun, mind 等等，都是抽象名词。
比如C5T1P3（剑桥5的套第三篇，后同）第二段中”One form of pollution - the release of greenhouse gases that causes global warming - does appear to be a phenomenon that is going to extend well into our future, but its total impact is unlikely to pose a devastating problem.”
文章中出现了phenomenon和impact 两个抽象名词。
2、抽象名词考查情况
刚才已经提过了，雅思阅读中抽象名词多出现在配对题中，重点考察同义替换，比如：
①语气的替换
C6T1P2中14题：
14. a suggestion for improving trade in the future
定位词future表示将来，可以对应would do等虚拟语气，所以可以定位到尾短的最后一句话：
“Bring these barriers down would help the world’s economies grow ever closer.”(C6T1P2)
②词性替换
C6T2P3中29题：
29. In seventh-century Europe, the ability to count to a certain number
题目中的ability可以变换为词组be able to do，可以对应原文第四段最后一句：
“In fact, to qualify as a witness in a count of law a man had to be able to count to nine!”(C6T2P3)
成为一个目击证人需要有能数到9的能力，本句中的witness也是抽象名词，需要理解为人的意思，看选项只有A和B提到了人
A. was necessary in order to fulfill a civic role.
B. was necessary when people begin farming.
但B项的farming没有提到，所以答案可以锁定为A。
③范围的替换
C8T1P3中27题
27. Researchers with differing attitudes towards telepathy agree on.
题目中用researchers和differing attitudes定位，researchers可以找到人，但attitudes这个抽象名词如何定位呢？
可以理解为不同态度的人，也可以是不同观点的人，观点分为支持和反对的人，则可以替换为支持者和反对者，根据这个原则，可以定位到第二段第三行的sceptics and advocates，需要注意advocate这个词有名词，支持者的意思，所以找到原文对应句：
“Sceptics and advocates alike do concur on one issue, however: that the most impressive evidence so far has come from the so-called ‘ganzfeld’ experiment.”
对应选项E the significance of ganzfeld experiments.
