宜阳封闭雅思暑假班,洛阳雅思备考何为“修饰限定关系”，系统学习过语法知识的同学，想必听说过“中心词”、“定语”这种叫法，中心词一般是名词，是被修饰限定的对象，而我们雅思阅读的填空题中的修饰限定关系考点一般就是中心词和定语关系的考察问题。
填空题的修饰限定关系考点你真的弄明白了吗？
话不多说，咱们先来看看大家最熟悉的C6T1R3 P29 Q40。这一篇summary的整体难度很低，不仅在于命题者一开始便给出了所涵盖的区域“paragraphs C and D”，而且在于替换关系给的非常直白，所以大家在做前面题目时都顺风顺水，以至于最后的第40题，大意失荆州了。第40题大多数同学的答案会是“Imported meat”或者是“meat”，而本题的正确答案却是“Imported”。这些同学虽然答错了，但是并没有意识到问题的严重性，甚至不明就里觉得自己马虎大意，然后就翻篇了。
C6T1R3 P29 Q40题干为“40 produce is particularly expensive.”通过审题，大家最终能选定定位词为“expensive”，而至于为何选“expensive”，只是因为它比“produce”和“particularly”更合适吗？当然不是。与第40题联系最为紧密的当属produce，因为第40题空格的信息是作produce的定语，produce都没有，何谈其定语呢？故首要任务是要找到produce，但是这个词却让大家望而却步，因为它是个较为抽象的词汇，结合其动词用法，也只能猜测其名词用法含义为“产品”，定位难度过大，故需找到与其存在紧密联系的约束性信息，继而看到“expensive”。
在找“expensive”的过程中，大家首先便能看到“costly”这个替换词，故有部分同学会选择“air networks”或者“provisions”。这便是对于修饰限定关系认识不清的表现。为何“air networks”不行？因为它与“produce”无关。按照解题逻辑，我们用“expensive”定位，就是为了找到“produce”，但是“costly”带我们看到的“air networks”明显与“produce”无关，故此处并非答案。至于“provisions”就更说不过去了，限定它的是“available”，甚至连“expensive”都没出现。
继续在余下范围查找，便可发现“It would cost a family around ￡7,000 a year to replace meat they obtained themselves through hunting with imported meat.”通过“￡7,000”可推测与“expensive”可能存在关系，看完整句，便发现，其实是在谈物物交换问题，而并非平等交换，需要再支出“around ￡7,000 a year”，所以推知“imported meat”很贵，而“imported meat”符合“produce”的含义限定，故很多同学直接选择“imported meat”。殊不知，我们最初是要找“produce”的定语，而文中的“meat”需要与“produce”替换，定语为“imported”。
大家耐着性子绕弯这一通逻辑，后面再遇到限定关系考点便能从容应对了。接下来，再给大家看一个典型例题C5T2R3 P50 Q32。题干为“This situation only changed after 1660 when scientists associated with the 32 set about developing English.”不少同学的答案会是“committee”，在看到正确答案后很不解，甚至还怀疑是标准答案出了问题。那么情况究竟如何呢？我们来揭秘一下。
首先，审题，确定“associated with the ”是过去分词短语给“scientists”作后置定语，如果这一步不明白的同学，就得去恶补一下基本的语法知识了。所以我们的目标是要找到“scientists”在哪。这个词大家在做阅读时应该有痛的领悟，那就是，它不是原词对应，只要是差不多很厉害的人就可以了。这个题有同学会用“1660”定位，以至于找错了范围，因为题干还有个“after”，“after 1660”这个时间段其实意义并不大，因为文中大部分区域都是，就算在第31题之后去看，也还有最后3个自然段，故定位功能弱。那么，除了该信息之外，这个题干还有什么是可以利用的呢？与此处的“scientists”联系最为紧密的自然是“set about developing English”了，大家或许会困惑：这哪里好找了？English在文章那么多！
其实，这个信息定位是我们最难的一种定位方式，即不是看单个谈论对象去定位，而是结合整个语义去看，而这个语义只需要我们明确几个关键元素即可：人、英语、改善。最后，便能看到文中满足条件的地方是“the society’s members did a great deal to foster the publication of science in English and to encourage the development of a suitable writing style. Many members of the Royal Society also published monographs in English.”故可确定“scientists”与“members”替换，而答案词为“Royal Society”，至于为何不填“society”，因为在题干这个概念是第 一次出现，所以得写完整形式。
对于大家所选的“committee”，在文中对应处的表述是“Although a proposal in 1664 to establish a committee for improving the English language came to little”，哪个信息该与题干的“scientists”对应呢？填“committee”是觉得题干是“committee”去“set about developing English”吗？如此，“scientists associated with”与“the committee set about developing English”该作为两个独立句子并行吗？明显是不可以的。
修饰限定关系是填空题中常考、同时难度最 大的考点，如果只是因为某个运用此考点但是定位、替换均特别容易的题目，而对于此类考点有错误认知，那么后面的做题过程中可是要吃大亏的。希望此文能让在此考点上失分的同学成功避坑、填空满分！
